The Sound of Summer

Tuesday, November 30, 2010

So school is over :)
I am not sad.
I am not glad.
I am EXCITED.

Usually.
------------------->>

The Sound of Summer for me means BeachBoys and others of my favourite tunes mixed with copious amounts of Taylor Swift and kids laughter. It is the picture of ultimate summer joy coasting off to the beach with the windows rolled down and the Beach Boys 'Good Vibrations' chirping happily in the background, slightly drowned by the seagulls squaking. :)

For me i still have alot of planning to do concerning the rest of my life (Uni tests, etc. BORING) but otherwise im hoping that the sound of summer isnt pen scratching test paper.
But how could i forget? Summer is playing my guitar on the beach ;) Last year i terrorised the Port sorrel Caravanners as i walked around everywhere constantly playing ! lol

So Bloggers that have read this pointless blog....
What does Summer sound like for you?
Whats your vision of summer?
(^^^^^One of My visions: Something like this plus Harrys...though were not allowed down harrys anymore the dream lives on ;))

Wildlife Warrior.

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

So this afternoon i was on my way back from purchasing some banana bread (me), tissues & mars bars (anthony, hes sick) and tuna(jess) from woolies when something WOW happened. I usually take the short cut through the Uni to get home and today was no exception. As I was on my way down the  road...  There it is.
A suicidal blue tongue lizard basking in the middle of the road.

Naturally, i completely hyperventalate thinking im going to hit it but thankfully it stayed still as i dodged it. I could see other cars right behind me and i knew this suicidal lizard will get his death wish if he didnt get out of the way. So i speed around the corner and park, hardly knowing what the heck i was doing, before im sprinting across the grounds, flat-chat, towards the road with Suicidal Stan (the lizard) on it.
But alas!! i was too late! Stan was hit! I reached him as he curled up bleeding in the middle of the road. So i leap out (infront of on-coming traffic) and start dragging poor Stan off the road. I had to drag him you see, as he wasnt so badly busted up to object to me foiling his death wish, and he squirmed and wriggled and wouldnt let me just quickly pick him up and chuck him off the road. Luckily, the on-coming traffic was a nice man in a blue truck, and he pulled over to help me.

He said:'Ah a blueys gone and got himself busted up eh?'
Me: 'yep, only just recently though, do you reckon i should take him to the vet to get checked over?'
'Yeah mate, he's still pretty lively so i reckon he might be o'right'
'His head is bleeding a fair bit, i think i will take him just to be sure'
'Hmmm yer right mate, his eyes are even all red. i reckon the tyre just nicked his head... silly things, they get hit alot cause they crawl out on the hot roads to get warmed up...yer got a car?'
'yeah just around the corner. ' (i was thinking about pulling off my sock or my shirt to wrap the poor think up for the trip to the vets but luckily the nice man had a bag to put him in)
'here you go, take care!'
'thank you so much for helping me!'

And i speed off to my car, go to the vets. The lady at the vets was real nice and i left Suicidal Stan in her hands as she carried him off down the hall calling 'Look here Jim, we've got a Big Bluey!....'
Goodluck Stan! God is with you!

I drove home feeling incredibly like Steve Irwin.

Oh yeah, Bek the Wildlife Warrior/ Veterinarian Surgeon... I can see it now! :)

Columbus Day

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

As there is a really awesome Greg Olsen calendar in our lounge room, it has recorded all the american holidays. So when we looked up whats going on next week in Planning, Anthony noticed that on monday it was Columbus day! and no, we did not decide to celebrate this american holiday. BUT! we did have a special dinner (just randomly, but we decided it would be a Columbus day special tea!) of pizza. Mmmmm the best:
Also, For all you creative cats out there, i scored this jumper a while ago from an op shop, and got to wear it very few times before the dreaded thing happened: my straightner nearly set it on fire! Luckily i woke in the night to the burning plastic smell and fixed it, but unfortunately my jumper now has a big ugly brown singe mark right on the front! I refuse to throw it out, so Im putting it out there for any ideas on how to fix it/ cover it. I tried in vain to wash it out, but that didnt work. Heres a picture , the singe is between the pockets:

So please! let me know of any ideas to salvage the situation! :)

P-Plater.

I think the picture speaks for itself....
And maybe my face does too... lol.
So excited to finally have my licence! My first trip without paarental supervision was with Leia and kayla and we went to Westburys and Andys...we didnt buy anything we just sat and chatted with the missionaries. Then we drove all the way to the ETC and it was closed. It didnt really sink in until i had to drive myself home.... and then i was singing at the top of  my lungs and having the time of my life!!
But as i soon came to realise, sometimes freedom has its downfalls...
I did make it in the end... twenty minutes later... lol :) So guys moral of the story....ALWAYS take a street map where ever you go...and maybe get proper non-computer generated directions!! lol

From Cumorah's Hill

Sunday, September 26, 2010

This year at UYC, the YSA choir sung a song by Stephen Kapp Perry called "From Cumorah's Hill'. Ever since this song has never failed to give me goosebumps.

This video from youtube is great hey? The lyrics are posted below but i got them from:http://www.stevenkappperry.com/cumorah.html
From Cumorah's Hill/From the Dust (interlude)Intro. to Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:27-29
Isaiah 29:4, Ezekiel 37:15-20

Long were the shadows,
Deep was the chill of starless night.
Great the confusion
Now ages long upon the land.

Hushed were the voices,
Silent the witness of the past.
Timeless the record
Hidden between the earth and stone.

Tender the prophet
Brought to the hillside,
Drawn by a vision bright.

Breathless the moment
When the stone was opened,
Lifting the truth to the light!

From Cumorah's hill there comes
A witness and a warning.
Out of darkness shines at last
The welcome light of morning!

Now are the stick of
Joseph and Judah one in hand;
How plain and precious
Now is the gospel of the Lamb!

Read from its pages,
Drink from the fountain,
Feast on the words of Christ

Saved through the ages
For this dispensation.
Piercing the clouds of the night!

CHORUS (repeat)
Ancient voices crying from the dust!
God remembers yet His covenant!
In the latter days He speaks to us
From Cumorah's hill . . .

CHORUS (repeat)
From Cumorah's hill!
